And this piece of paper is only good for two years.  Every other year, you have to do this merry-go-round all over again.

So, no, not every schmuck can get licensing for roofing contractors in Illinois.  Not unless the schmuck is filthy rich, have co-conspirators who can pass the exam and nothing else better to do.  After getting licensing for roofing contractors in Illinois, doing your roof will be a piece of cake in comparison.

Windmills Can Improve Your Power Consumption

Windmills use as a water draining device is first mentioned in written documents about in 1414. Windmills used for the processing of grain have existed there for 200 years before that. The oldest mention of a windmill can be found in some documents from the year 1274, where they were a priveledge offered to city elite. The feudal senior could give the right of building a windmill, to constrain the workers to bring cereals to his windmill, and to forbid the construction or the planting of trees near the windmill for ensuring the strongest wind.

In the following years, windmills spread over Holland. Older towers that once were used to house gun powder were transformed into mills. But the real development of Dutch windmills takes place at the end of the XVI century and the beginning of the next one. The windmills started to be used more and more to make all sorts of manufactures. They were built from heavy wood, brought in ships from heavily forested lands from around the Baltic Sea.

The most abundant and cheapest form of energy available to Dutchmen was wind power. Bigger and stronger windmills could drain large quantities of water. That was incredibly necessary as the land of Holland was constantly in the danger of being drowned by water. As its territory was under the sea level, many great cities like Amsterdam and Haarlem were threaten to be flooded. Using just 26 windmills, Beemster lake was entirely drained in about 1 year by the power of wind alone.

At or around the year 1850, there were approximately 9000 active windmills in Holland, which is probably the greatest number that had ever existed there. After that date, their number started to decrease. By the end of the XIX century there were only 2500 windmills left.

In 1920, an initiative for creating an association to protect the windmills was beginning to take shape. This association started in the year 1923 in the city of Amsterdam. As result of a petition the Dutch society of windmills wrote, in 1924 a letter to the minister of Education, Arts and Science that highlighted the importance of preserving these monuments. Similar letters were sent in 1930 and in 1939.

By the 1st of January 1961, an agreement has become operative and according to it, anyone who maintained a working windmill received a subvention from the state. A lot of times if an older person owns a windmill and cannot maintain it in working condiion it is taken over and converted to a historic monument by authorities. Most of the time it will be used to shelter a museum or perhaps become an area used to honor foreign guests.

Holland greatly owes its existence to the windmills, because, with their help, water was kept from flooding the land and can now hold a growing population.

Ionic Air Purifier – Scientific Peer Reviews, Who Will Be The First?

Criticism of the ionic air purifier industry is fashionable. “Absence of scientific peer reviews” has been a frequent criticism posted on influenza, air quality and indoor pollution blogs.

Mr. John Moore, a trained researcher at Cornell University, New York, may yet surprise these supporters of the peer review system.

He says:

• “a lust for profit has led to too many journals,…all too easy to find…poor-quality work”

• “not everything in the peer-reviewed literature is correct. Indeed, some of it is downright bad science”

• “the peer review system…it’s the least-bad system that can be devised”.

The public, warns Mr. Moore, must never treat every scientific peer review as the “gold standard” as “even reviewed literature can be cherry-picked to support any argument.” It is instructive that “professional scientists…know that scientific truth evolves on the basis of a mounting consensus, not through an isolated paper that adopts a maverick position, even if it has been peer-reviewed.”

These nuggets of wisdom from an “insider” like Mr. Moore is of great value to all industries, including the ionic air purifier industry, that are constantly lambasted by critics.

Critics of the ionic air purifier demand the gold standard. So do the overseeing organisations. How do we know? We simply asked. The US National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) responded thus:

“NIOSH is not aware of any peer-reviewed scientific studies that demonstrate the effectiveness of ion generators/ionic air purifiers against viruses. NIOSH does not have any studies planned to evaluate these devices nor do we have a policy on their use.”

But it was encouraging that the NIOSH has not pronounced final judgment as they also said:

“NIOSH provides support for investigator initiated research. Should someone want to conduct such studies they may apply for funding by mechanisms available and described under “Funding Opportunities” at: http://www.cdc.gov/niosh/oep/. Proposals are funded annually based on availability of funds, relevance of the proposed work to the NIOSH mission, and the quality of the science proposed.”

My relative informed that we all were going for a meal to the urban center famous Culver Hotel that has history of featuring in various films and television programs.The hotel which was originally known as Hotel Hunt , was a pie-slice-shaped hotel in downtown. The famous “Charles Chaplin and Harry Culver” made that hotel. The hotel is quite beautiful . There were number of lawns with big fountains with wonderful Culver City Plumbing task done, thereby increasing their beauty. As I was getting into one of the hotel lawns , I saw a group of Culver City Plumbers discussing regarding the new fountain to be installed . First one of the plumbers created the design of the complete fountain.
